U.S.-Iceland Strategic Dialogue

Delegations representing the United States and Iceland met Dec. 5, 2017, in Washington, D.C., for the U.S.-Iceland Strategic Dialogue.

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Sharon Hudson-Dean and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy Tom Goffus led the U.S. delegation. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Sturla Sigurjonsson led the delegation from Iceland.

The U.S. and Iceland discussed regional and global security issues and reaffirmed the importance of bilateral and NATO cooperation to strengthen our mutual defense and shared commitment to our common values.


The Strategic Dialogue framework is a fundamental platform to enhance the U.S.-Iceland cooperative relationship by facilitating senior-level discussions.
