The is an Icelandair flight to the U.S., Boston, on May 30, June 4, and June 6 (with the Boston to Reykjavik return flight later the same days). There are currently no flights scheduled beyond May 16. The airline will reassess flight needs regularly. Please do not wait. U.S. citizens with travel plans to Iceland through June 15 must postpone their visits. Travel Ban Update: No one from outside of the Schengen zone will be allowed to enter Iceland until June 15 after which time visitors to Iceland will likely have the choice between a test for the virus on arrival or a two-week quarantine. More details will be announced at a later date.
We do not yet know whether U.S. citizens will be permitted entry after June 15 or how the COVID-19 testing upon arrival will work. U.S. citizens may also be required to self-quarantine upon their return to the U.S. from Iceland. The CDC and the State Department Level 4 Travel Advisory against international travel remains in effect.
Quarantine: Currently all travelers entering Iceland, including Icelandic citizens and residents, must self-quarantine for 14 days. Individual travelers may not request an exemption from quarantine, however, some companies that are deemed vital to Iceland’s infrastructure may contact the Department of Health for more information.
As of March 23, the consular section at the U.S. Embassy in Reykjavik has suspended all routine visa and passport appointments. Email ReykjavikConsular@state.gov to request an emergency appointment.
